Report: Leroy Sane not keen on Bundesliga return to play for Bayern Munich
According to Sky Deutschland’s Torben Hoffmann, Bayern Munich may fail to secure a Leroy Sane deal because the player doesn’t want to return to Germany.
The 2018-19 season has only been concluded for a few days, but all eyes are still on Bayern Munich, who are set to resume their work in the summer transfer market within the next few days.
Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has emerged as the club’s primary transfer target within the past few days, but club officials Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have both expressed skepticism at the likelihood of the 23-year-old joining the German champions.
Sane is apparently unhappy at his situation with the Premier League winners. He played a subdued role under Pep Guardiola this season, despite performing up to standards every time he was called upon. The winger has just two years left on his current contract, and the Citizens might feel they need to sell him in the summer to make any sort of profit off the player.
Bayern Munich are hoping to take advantage of Sane’s situation and bring him back to Germany. The club sees him as the perfect addition to help compensate for the departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

However, according to Sky Deutschland‘s Torben Hoffmann, Leroy Sane does not want to return to Germany, so the chances of Bayern signing the player are virtually no-existent.
This is, of course, the first and only report so far to claim anything like this, whereas other sources have said Sane would be interested in a move to Bayern. So take this report with a grain of salt. That being said, there are certainly less reliable sources out there to make such a claim.
It would be a big blow for Bayern fans if the club misses out on Leroy Sane this summer, especially after speaking so publicly about the player. However, the club executives have always touted the deal as a long shot, so fans really shouldn’t be too disappointed if things don’t pan out.
The question that must then be asked is who Bayern will turn their attention toward should this deal fall south. Die Roten have been linked with a whole handful of wide players, though none are on the level of Sane. Perhaps this would allow them to empty more funds into a move for Atletico Madrid’s Rodri, then move for a less prominent winger. Only time will tell.
