According to Sport Bild, Bayern Munich are hoping to secure moves for both Leroy Sane and Rodri within the next few weeks.
Bayern Munich completed their first domestic double since 2016 this past weekend, beating RB Leipzig 3-0 in the DFB Pokal final. This season marks the 12th time the Bavarians have won both the German cup and the Bundesliga title in the same campaign.
With their playing season behind them, Bayern will now turn their attention to the summer transfer market. Die Roten have already completed a few moves, shoring up the defensive line, and are now hoping to add some serious firepower to their attack.
By the club’s own admission, Manchester City winger Leroy Sane is Bayern’s number one transfer target. The 23-year-old would be a perfect fit in the Bavarian capital, and the club is hoping to capitalize on his apparent displeasure at Manchester City and convince him to return to Germany.
In Sport Bild‘s latest update on the player, the German outlet claimed Bayern’s locker room is eager to see Sane make the move to Munich. Even current wide forwards Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry hope to see him transfer. President Uli Hoeness, however, is still skeptical about the deal because of the difficult financial side of things.

Whereas Hoeness is eager to see Sane move to Munich, despite his concerns over the price tag, he was much less enthusiastic when asked about the Bavarians’ other rumored transfer target, Rodri. Hoeness simply responded, “I do not know the player,” when asked about the Atletico Madrid midfielder, more than likely simply indicating the responsibility of that move falls on the shoulders of Hasan Salihamidzic (Sport Bild).
Interestingly, Sport BIld‘s report claims Bayern Munich have already submitted an offer for Rodri. Given that the 22-year-old has a €70 million release clause, it’s unlikely Atletico Madrid will accept any offer less than that amount. However, this could simply also mean Bayern have submitted an offer to the player and his agent and will pay the €70 million to Atleti should their offer be accepted by Rodri.
Whatever the case, it certainly seems Bayern’s interest in the Spain international is genuine. Niko Kovac claimed Bayern lacked a world-class defensive midfielder earlier this season, and the club was rumored to be after Frenkie de Jong before he signed for Barcelona.
Manchester City are also heavily interested in the player, though, and it will be interesting to see a potential move from Bayern for one player will affect their chances at signing the other.
