Joshua Kimmich believes that RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has all the right qualities to be a success at Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich have stepped up their transfer plans for next season. The German giants are looking to add young, world-class talent to the squad to replace the departing veteran players like Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. The attacking department of the squad is the main area where the Bundesliga champions desperately need additions.

There have been numerous wide players and strikers regularly linked with Bayern throughout this season. Timo Werner is one of man who has been strongly linked with a move to Bavaria in the summer. The German striker has reportedly already reached a personal agreement with Die Roten.

Werner might be playing in Bavaria next season, but later today he will be a key threat to Bayern’s hopes of winning the DFB Pokal. Speaking to Sportbuzzer earlier this week, Bayern full-back Joshua Kimmich had nothing but praise for his compatriot. Kimmich believes his fellow Germany international has all the right qualities to succeed in the Bavarian capital.

"“[Werner] is incredibly fast, and a great finisher up front. He can score with his right foot, left foot and head.“Of course it’s a different game for us. But in principle, a striker of Timo’s quality, who has scored about ten to fifteen goals for two, three consecutive years, can help many teams.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Bayern Munich have always looked to recruit top German talent and Werner fits this bill perfectly. He has been one of the most lethal forward in the Bundesliga for the past three seasons. Though the 23-year-old primarily operates as a number nine for RB Leipzig, he has shown his versatility for Germany by playing on the left flank under Joachim Low.

Werner is likely to initially play on the wings at Bayern if the two clubs manage to reach an agreement over a transfer fee, but he can eventually become Robert Lewandowski’s successor at striker. His ability to both fill in for the Pole and out wide means he’ll have plenty of opportunity to play in Munich.

RB Leipzig are desperate to avoid selling Werner to Bayern this summer. There have been some suggestions in Germany that the Bavarian club might wait and try to sign him on a free transfer next year.

Earlier this week Ralf Ragnick raised doubts over Werner’s transfer to Bayern and ruled out him leaving on a free transfer next year. Bayern should try to sign the German forward this summer due to the fact that Lewandowski will be on a steady decline in a couple of years.

In his interview, Kimmich also praised his former club, RB Leipzig, for the progress they have made in the Bundesliga after being promoted to the top of Germany just a couple seasons ago. They have been the best side defensively in the Bundesliga this season and have created some serious problems for Bayern in their two Bundesliga games. Bayern will have to be at their best to beat them in the DFB Pokal final later today.
