Speaking openly with the media earlier today, Robert Lewandowski urged Bayern Munich to make top class signings, specifically mentioning Leroy Sane.
With the 2018-19 season just days away from drawing to its full conclusion, speculation surrounding the various moves Bayern Munich will make in the summer transfer market is growing ever more rampant.
The Bavarians have been linked with several players in recent months, but no transfer rumor has stood out as much as Bayern’s apparent determination to sign Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.
Bayern reportedly see the young German as the ideal candidate to help take over from Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery from next season. The 22-year-old is unwilling to sign a new contract with the Premier League winners, who might be keen to offload him in the summer to secure a hefty transfer fee.

Sane would be the perfect player for Bayern Munich. He ticks all the boxes of an ideal candidate for the Bavarian giants. Speaking openly with the media (via Goal) earlier today, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski expressed that same belief that is held by so many of the club’s fans.
"“The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and we already have two players, I know there’s still more to come, that’s certain. Bayern has not yet said the final word with respect to transfers.“[Sane is] a super player with great qualities and great potential.“I’ve already seen many times how good he is. That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team.”"
Beyond simply praising Sane (which you have to admit would be a bit odd if Bayern’s interest wasn’t genuine), Robert Lewandowski explained why the 22-year-old would be a perfect addition to the Bavarian squad.
"“If someone comes, he has to help us immediately, make us better with his quality. You don’t have any time here to develop someone for two years.“From the very first matchday, you have to raise the quality of the whole team.”"
This isn’t the first time Lewandowski has somewhat opposed Bayern’s transfer strategy by urging the club to sign players who will immediately improve the first team rather than simply harvesting young talents with potential to improve. But he’s exactly right.
Bayern Munich must not only look for players who can improve the squad in years to come, but they should try to sign players who will make an immediate impact on the first team.
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be one or the other. Players like Leroy Sane, and the already secured Lucas Hernandez, are the exact type of personnel the Bavarian giants should be hoping to add in the summer transfer market.
