Hamburger SV striker Jann-Fiete Arp has confirmed that he will join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Bayern Munich became Bundesliga champions for the seventh-consecutive season this past weekend, lifting the Meisterschale and celebrating with beer showers after a resounding 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Securing the German championship inside the Allianz Arena already made for the perfect send-off for Bayern legends Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. The fact that each of them scored a goal in their final home match was just all the more fitting.
After this weekend’s DFB Pokal final against RB Leipzig, the Bavarians will turn their attention to the summer transfer market, where they will be tasked with bringing in players in attack to compensate for the loss of Robbery.

Bayern have already, however, secured a few moves for the summer transfer window. France internationals Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez may be the more high-profile signatures — particularly the latter — but they are not the only players Bayern have already signed.
Die Roten announced in February that a deal had been completed for 19-year-old Hamburger SV striker Jann-Fiete Arp. It was announced at the time that the young forward would join in either the summer of 2019 or 2020, but no date was confirmed.
Since then no news has emerged as to when the teenager may complete his move. However, it’s now been all but confirmed that he’ll be joining Die Bayern in the coming months.
After scoring for Hamburg this past weekend — his first league goal of the season — Arp was overcome with emotion and broke down into tears. Then, in his post match interview, the 19-year-old admitted that a “change of scenery” could be exactly what he needs to get his development back on track.
Arp then took to Instagram yesterday to confirm that he’ll be moving to Munich in the summer. He gave a heartfelt thanks to the support he’s received from the Hamburg faithful throughout the years and explained he feels it is now time to move on.
The 19-year-old has long been touted as Germany’s next great striker. However, his development has come to a halt in recent seasons. He’s made 35 appearances with Hamburg’s first team but only found the net three times. While that does raise some questions as to whether or not he’ll be able to hack it in Bavaria, it could also show that a change of scenery is in fact exactly what the young man needs.
Whether he’ll be playing in Bayern red next season or he’ll be loaned out to another Bundesliga side still remains to be seen — and likely hinges on whether or not Timo Werner completes a move to Munich in the summer. One thing is certain, though: Fiete Arp will not be playing for Hamburg next season.
