Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is reportedly still hoping to complete a move to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich are set to make at least one addition to the attacking department of the squad in the upcoming transfer window as there are will be some vital departures in the wide positions. Franck Ribery is the latest veteran player, after Rafinha and Arjen Robben, to announce his departure from the club at the end of this season.

The German club will have to find some world-class young talent to fill the void left by Robben and Ribery. Die Roten have long looked to Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi as the ideal player to help the club move on from the Robbery era. The teenager recently suffered an Achilles injury, however, that could potentially jeopardize the chances of a summer transfer.

However, a recent report in England is suggesting otherwise as Bayern remain keen in the England international. According to the Daily Mail, Bayern still remain interested in Hudson-Odoi, and he is still hoping to make his move to Munich this off-season.

More from Bayern Strikes

This report insists that Chelsea are yet to open contract talks with the 18-year-old, who has just one year left on his current contract and will be open to signing a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January next year. Daily Mail further adds that Manchester United might emerge as competitors with Bayern Munich as they are also monitoring Hudson-Odoi’s situation at Chelsea.

Bayern reportedly made four bids for the English winger in the winter, but Chelsea stood firm and were not keen on losing the player midway through the season. Hudson-Odoi tried to force a move by handing in a transfer request, but it didn’t motivate the London-based club to change their stance. Bayern will try to get a cut-price deal this summer due to his contract situation.

Uli Hoeness and Karl Heinz-Rummenigge have dropped hints that Bayern will not be giving up on this transfer deal yet. Hudson-Odoi has got a decent amount of playing time since January, and Chelsea will be hoping that the player might consider signing a deal after playing more with the first team. Moreover, the potential departure of Eden Hazard might open up even further first-team opportunities for the teenager.

Bayern completed the transfer of Lucas Hernandez, despite his knee injury. Unless there are major complications in Hudson-Odoi’s current injury, it would be a huge surprise if Die Roten don’t compete heavily for this transfer. Nicolas Pepe was long considered an alternative transfer target, but recent reports suggest Bayern have no interest in signing him. This further strengthens the case that Bayern might be lining up a bid for Hudson-Odoi as soon as the season comes to an end.
