Bayern Munich receive injury boost ahead of RB Leipzig clash
Bayern Munich have received a major boost on the injury front ahead of their crunch Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig this weekend.
The title race in the Bundesliga can come to an end this weekend when Bayern Munich travel away to face RB Leipzig. Die Roten will retain the league title if they are able to win this game, but it will be a very tough challenge for the visitors as RB Leipzig are a formidable side at home.
The Bavarians have received a massive injury boost ahead of this high octane clash. Bayern confirmed on Monday that Manuel Neuer is back on the pitch. The German goalkeeper has started in training and is inching closer to making his return to the starting lineup.
Neuer was also accompanied by James Rodriguez in training. The Colombian has began running on the pitch and is likely to start training with the squad in next couple of days. Jerome Boateng, meanwhile, trained individually earlier today. The German defender is most likely carrying a knock from the game against Hannover on Saturday.

Neuer has endured a few minor injury problems this season, which have kept him out of action for a handful of games. The club captain most recently suffered a calf injury during the 4-1 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf. Neuer has not exactly been in top form this year after missing out on the whole of last season due to serious injury. However, the German is a good leader, and his presence in the team still has a major impact on the pitch.
On the other hand, it has been a season to forget for James Rodriguez. The Colombian was expected to reach another level this year after an impressive run of form during the second half of last season. His future at Bayern is looking uncertain, though, as he reportedly doesn’t feel supported at the club. Bayern have not exactly missed James in the last couple of weeks, but he will always be a good option to have on the bench against a side like Leipzig.
There are no major injury concerns for Bayern right now. Corentin Tolisso has been on the bench in the past few games but is yet to get any minutes on the pitch. The French midfielder’s situation needs to be handled carefully as ACL injuries can take a heavy mental and physical toll on a player. Bayern would be wise to not use him at all in next three games and allow him to make his complete return in the preseason.
Serge Gnabry, meanwhile, has rounded off an impressive April month by winning the player of the month award. The German forward has been the best wide player at the club in his debut season at Bayern. His productivity in the final third has been fantastic, and it will be exciting to see how he improves in the next few years.
