Bayern Munich reportedly begin talks to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus
The latest report from Italy’s Calciomercato suggests Bayern Munich have held preliminary talks to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus this summer.
Bayern Munich are inching closer to their seventh consecutive Bundesliga title and still have a chance of winning the DFB Pokal this season as well. The club’s focus will shift to the transfer window in a few weeks as they continue their major squad overhaul.
The squad’s attacking department needs the most reinforcements. Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are set to depart next month, while there is growing uncertainty over James Rodriguez’s future at the club.
Die Roten have been linked with numerous forwards throughout the season. The Italian media has frequently linked Bayern with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala throughout the past two seasons, but it is looking more and more likely by the day that the Argentine forward will be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to the latest report from Calciomercato, Bayern Munich have held preliminary talks to sign Dybala. The German club will have fierce competition for the Argentina international, though, as Manchester United have also initiated talks for a potential transfer. The Italian report also indicates that Bayern sees Dybala as a direct replacement for James.
Dybala has been a fantastic player for Juventus since moving from Palermo in 2015. However, this season has been difficult for the Argentine. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has reduced his appearances in the starting XI. There are numerous reports in Italy suggesting Massimiliano Allegri is ready to part ways with Dybala, who is no longer the first choice forward at the club.
The 25-year-old is primarily a second striker but can do a good job as a false nine. Any team he plays in needs to be built around Dybala as he is not exactly a flexible forward. His scoring rate has dipped this season, but goals will eventually come for him when he plays regularly as his quality is evident. His creativity in the final third and control in tight spaces make him one of the best number tens in Europe.
Dybala is a fantastic talent, and there will be numerous clubs interested in his services this summer. However, he is not exactly the type of forward Bayern need right now. The Argentine will cost a lot, and Bayern have many positions to address this summer. They will be better off spending that sort of money on young wide forwards. Moreover, the Bavarians already have some players in the squad that can fill the potential void left by James.
