Renato Sanches is eager to end his nightmare spell at Bayern Munich as he is expecting a move away from the club in the summer.

The 2018-19 season is close to completion, and Bayern Munich will soon turn their focus entirely upon rebuilding their squad with world class signings. These signings will replace veteran players and fringe players that are struggling to get regular gametime. Renato Sanches is one of the few players who could be looking to find a way out of Bayern in the summer.

There have been reports in Germany throughout the last week that Bayern Munich are contemplating loan offers for the Portuguese midfielder. Speaking to the media (via Sport Bild) after the game against Werder Bremen, Sanches admitted that he just wants to play more regularly. The 21-year-old midfielder is not bothered about the league in which he is playing next season as long as he is getting adequate minutes on the pitch.

"“Whether a loan or a sale is better, we will see. Everyone knows: I want to play more. Five minutes are not enough. I love to play. I do my best in every training. The coach knows that, and my teammates too. I always have to be ready. I’ll do my best for those five minutes. I have self-confidence. And I’m playing well when I get the chance.”“I respect [Kovac]. It’s tough right now. But I still have fifteen years left. The future can be good.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Niko Kovac refused to sanction the departure of Sanches last summer as he was confident he could still get the best out of the young midfielder. The Croatian still believes Sanches has all the qualities to succeed at Bayern, but he claims patience is needed from both the player and the club. Bayern still has faith in Sanches, considering the fact that they are only looking at loan options for the summer summer.

He was given a handful of opportunities at the start of the season and grabbed them with both hands. The Portugal international scored his first competitive goal for Bayern against is former club, Benfica, in the Champions League. However, Bayern’s poor run of form forced Kovac to stick with a fixed starting lineup for most of his games from December onward. This reduced Sanches’ appearances to small cameos in the closing stages of a game.

Paris Saint-Germain came calling for Sanches once again in the January window, but Bayern still decided to keep the youngster for the rest of the season. The Portuguese midfielder has hinted in the past two months that he is unhappy with his situation at the club, though. If he leaves in the summer, however, his next destination must be thoroughly considered. A repeat of his disastrous loan spell at Swansea City would not be good for anyone.

Kovac recently said that the current Bayern squad lacks a world class player in defensive midfield. This surely suggests that Bayern might be looking for someone to fill that void in the summer market. If that’s the case, Sanches will fall further down the pecking order, so it is necessary he leaves Bayern in order to avoid more stagnation in his development. A move back to Benfica was reported in the summer and I think that would be the ideal destination for the young midfielder to jump start his career.
