Bayern Munich will face Werder Bremen in the DFB Pokal semifinals
Bayern Munich will have yet another away game added to their schedule as they will visit Werder Bremen in the DFB Pokal semifinals.
It was an eventful last week for Bayern Munich as they took massive strides towards their target of winning two domestic trophies this season. Before smashing Borussia Dortmund over the weekend, Die Roten entered the semifinals of the DFB Pokal after an enthralling 5-4 win over Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena. Niko Kovac and Co. will be desperate to win the German cup after missing out on the trophy for the past few seasons.
The draw for the DFB Pokal semifinals took place on Sunday evening. Die Roten were handed yet another away trip as they were drawn against Werder Bremen. The two other clubs left in the competition, Hamburger SV and RB Leipzig, will play in the other match of the round. These games will take place on the 23rd and 24th of this month.
There have been some real shaky performances from Bayern in this season’s DFB Pokal. The campaign started with two nervy wins over lower league sides Drochtersen/Assel and Rodinghausen.

Bayern then traveled to Berlin in the following round where they clinched an entertaining 3-2 win in extra time against Hertha Berlin. The only home game of the campaign for Bayern was their quarterfinal victory over Heidenheim last Wednesday.
Werder Bremen, meanwhile, are enjoying a fantastic domestic campaign. Die Werderaner have delivered some fantastic performances in the Bundesliga, and they still remain in the hunt to qualify for next season’s European competitions. Bremen started their DFB Pokal campaign with two emphatic wins over Wormatia Worms and Weiche Flensburg.
Florian Kohfeldt’s team then went on to deliver one of the best results of this season’s competition, knocking out Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park. After causing a massive upset in the round of 16, Bremen cruised to the semifinals of the cup by winning 2-0 away at Schalke. Bayern had to work hard for a win away at Bremen in the Bundesliga earlier this season, so expect this semifinal clash to be a gripping affair.
Bayern Munich will now focus heavily on the Bundesliga as they enter the final stretch of the league campaign. Niko Kovac’s team are back on the top of the table after their emphatic victory over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The Croatian will be hoping his players keep up the same intensity over the next month in order to win the domestic double in his first season as Bayern manager.
