Bayern Munich have reportedly joined the long list of admirers of Fiorentina’s 21-year-old Italian winger Federico Chiesa.

The summer transfer window is still a few months away, but clubs across Europe have already started laying the groundwork for their summer deals. Bayern Munich are going to be aggressive in the summer window, hoping to sign a few big players to rejuvenate and improve their aging squad. The German champions are reportedly near completing a deal for Lucas Hernandez, after confirming in January that Benjamin Pavard will join in July.

After getting Hernandez’s signature taken care of, Bayern’s main focus will be making additions in attack. There is a good chance the Bavarians bring in more than one new player with both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leaving at the end of this season.

The Bavarians have reportedly been monitoring several wide players over the last few months, and Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa is now the latest player linked with a move to the Bavarian capital.

More from Bayern Strikes

According to La Republicca (via Firenzeviola), Bayern Munich and Liverpool are the first foreign clubs to show genuine interest in Chiesa. Their report suggests there is a high possibility the Italian international will leave Florence in the summer. There are various Italian clubs interested in the 21-year-old, but Juventus have emerged as the most likely destination for Chiesa.

Chiesa is one of the most highly rated young players in Italy, and he is currently enjoying a fine campaign with Fiorentina. The Italian has even become a national team regular due to his impressive performances in Serie A. Chiesa is a versatile winger, but his strongest performances have come on the right flank. He has scored 12 goals and created six more for his teammates across all competitions this season.

Bayern Munich would likely have to pay a huge fee for Chiesa, as his contract with Fiorentina does not expire until 2022. The Italian might prefer to stay in Serie A too, so a move to Juventus could be seen as more favorable for him. However, he is likely to get more minutes at Bayern, who have fewer options in attack. Chiesa would be a fantastic addition to Bayern’s squad, but it will likely be difficult for Die Roten to convince him to come if Juventus intensify their interest.

This report looks merely paper talk in Italy, anyway, as Fiorentina would ideally like to start a bidding war for their most talented player. Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with Lille’s Nicolas Pepe and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi. They have reportedly made a huge offer for Pepe, while their pursuit of Hudson-Odoi is complicated due to Chelsea’s transfer ban. There are no doubts about Chiesa’s talent, and he could be a viable option for Bayern if they fail to sign Pepe and Hudson-Odoi.
