According to reports from England, Bayern Munich are showing interest in Arsenal’s teenage sensation Xavier Amaechi.

There is a new trend among Bundesliga clubs to turn their attention to English teenagers who aren’t developing properly in their home nation. Such players struggle to get chances at their parent clubs and are eager to get a move away to get a chance at first team minutes, even if it means moving abroad.

Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson are two examples of players who have shown that with the right environment they can display their talent at the top level. Bayern Munich are following the trend and have already turned their eyes to England as they look to rebuild their squad.

Die Roten actively pursued the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea in January, and they are likely to return for the 18-year-old winger in the summer. The Bavarians were also briefly linked with Manchester City’s Rabbi Matondo before the Welsh starlet joined Schalke 04.

More from Bayern Strikes

The Bavarians are now reportedly monitoring Arsenal youngster Xavier Amaechi. According to Football London, Bayern is one of a few Bundesliga clubs following the progress of the 18-year-old. The teenager’s current contract with Arsenal expires in 2020. If he is not convinced with his progress at Arsenal and refuses to sign a new deal then the interested clubs will be able to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Amaechi is primarily a right winger, but he can fill in on the left side too. He is a very goal-minded winger, who enjoys cutting inside on to his stronger left foot. Amaechi has impressed for England on youth level, and he is likely to get a call up from the U-18 squad soon. He has struggled with a serious injury this season but still remains a very highly rated teenager in England.

The English forward is unlikely to go into the first team straightaway if Bayern decide to back up their rumored interest with a formal bid this summer. Amaechi would likely play for the reserves in the first season and slowly work his way into the first team, an approach similar to the one Bayern are taking with Alphonso Davies. Regardless, the source is far from inspiring, so don’t expect this to be anything other than a rumor.

Bayern Munich have several veteran players who will soon be phased out of the squad and are hoping to replace them with young talents. After passing up the opportunity to sign Jadon Sancho, Bayern do not want to make the same mistake, but they are far more likely to continue chasing Hudson-Odoi than turn their attention to Amaechi.
