Reports suggest Bayern Munich could face some stiff competition from Liverpool for both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner.

There are only eight days left in the winter transfer market, and clubs across Europe are chasing their transfer targets ever more intensely. Bayern Munich have already announced that Benjamin Pavard will join the club in the summer, after making Alphonso Davies’ move official. Now, the Bavarians have turned their attention to 18-year-old Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

There is a new twist, however, in Bayern’s pursuit of Hudson-Odoi. According to a report from Sport Bild, Liverpool have joined the race to sign the highly rated English forward. The Merseyside club met with the youngsters entourage earlier this month and held talks with him about staying in England. Sport Bild further adds that RB Leipzig have made an offer to the Englishman.

The Bavarians have already had three bids rejected for the teenager, while their fourth bid is the closest to Chelsea’s evaluation of the player. Die Roten have publicly admitted their interest in the player and are determined to sign him now or in the summer transfer window.

More from Bayern Strikes

Hudson-Odoi, meanwhile, is reportedly convinced by Bayern’s offer and is determined to join the club, even if it means he has to wait until the summer. He turned down a massive wage increase from Chelsea in hopes that a move to Munich will materialize before the month ends.

Chelsea still hope to convince the young winger to stay at the club, though. Since Bayern have made known their interest in the player, Chelsea have significantly increased his playing time.

Liverpool’s interest in Hudson-Odoi could help Bayern, though. Chelsea would no doubt prefer selling the 18-year-old to Bayern than allowing him to join a Premier League rival later down the road on a free.

Hudson-Odoi isn’t the only Bayern target Liverpool are interested in, though. The current Premier League leaders are also ready to battle the Bavarians for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with Die Roten for the past few years. Werner’s current contract at RB Leipzig is set to expire in 2020, and Leipzig will offload the striker in the summer if they are not able to extend his contract in the next six months.

Ralf Rangnick admitted last weekend that it will be difficult to keep Werner if Bayern comes calling for him. Werner recently hinted himself that he would prefer to stay in Germany and that there is only one German club outside of Leipzig he’d be interested in joining, putting a damper on Borussia Dortmund’s pursuit of the player. Bayern are in the driving seat for both of these deals right now, but Liverpool’s interest will give both players and their clubs something to think about.
