Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic recently sat down for an interview with Sport Bild, opening up on his club’s future plans.
Bayern Munich just returned from their winter training camp in Doha and have their sights set on opening the second half of the Bundesliga season on the right foot against Hoffenheim on Friday. There’s at least one transfer they’d like to wrap up before the January window closes, though, and it remains to be seen whether they’ll get their man or not.
That man is, of course, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Bavarians have not been shy about their admiration for the 18-year-old and have made several bids to bring him to Munich. Chelsea, however, have remained stubborn and hope to convince their player to commit his future to the club.
Speaking with Sport Bild, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic again spoke up about his club’s interest in Hudson-Odoi and added many more insights into the club’s plans for the future.

"“We want to sign the player. I am fully convinced of his abilities. We are in talks with Chelsea.” (via Goal)"
No player in recent history has caused Bayern to be so open about their intentions to sign him as Hudson-Odoi. The Bavarians seem to have even angered Chelsea coach Mauricio Sarri with their admiration for the youngster. It is apparent Salihamidzic will do whatever it takes to bring the Englishman to Bayern before the winter window closes.
Brazzo also commented on the Lucas Hernandez rumors, acknowledging his club’s interest but suggesting a move in the winter will definitely not take place.
He also suggested the future of James Rodriguez is not entirely certain for the bosses at Sabener Strasse.
"“We will look at the second half of the season and draw the right conclusions.”"
Bayern hold the option to make James’ move from Real Madrid permanent for €42 million, hardly more than they would pay for Callum Hudson-Odoi. The deal seems like a no-brainer, but the Bayern bosses apparently still have some reservations about the Colombian.
Brazzo made one thing clear, however. They will not buy the 27-year-old just to sell him on to another club. “That would not be Bayern’s style.”
A full thread of Brazzo’s quotes can be found here. Beyond Hudson-Odoi and James, he also addresses the club’s rumored interest in Ajax duo Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong and talks about the club’s need to find a balance between young talents and experienced leaders.
