Bayern Munich have reportedly submitted a new and improved offer to Chelsea for the signature Callum Hudson-Odoi in this transfer window.
The winter transfer window is officially open, and clubs are looking to strengthen their squads in order to compete on all fronts. Bayern Munich are trying to rebuild their squad, with many veteran players set to leave the club at the end of the season. The majority of their business will take place in the summer, but Bayern are eager to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea this month.
The Bavarians reportedly made two bids for the English teenager last month. The first bid was rumored to be around €14.5 million, while the second one was close to €23 million. Chelsea are holding out for a fee close to €40 million, though, for the 18-year-old. This has forced Bayern’s hand to make a third bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

According to Sky Sports, Bayern have made a bid in the region of €30 million. This bid also includes various performance-related bonuses along with a sell-on clause. Hudson-Odoi has 18 months left on his current contract at Chelsea and is not ready to commit his future to the English club. Goal have also reported about the third bid, claiming Bayern Munich are eager to beat the likes of Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid for the teenager’s signature.
Chelsea announced the signing of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. This signing will surely further dampen Hudson-Odoi’s chances of becoming a regular player at Chelsea. It’s likely Hudson-Odoi’s agent has communicated with Bayern in the past few days, making known the player’s desire to leave soon.
Die Roten are ready to pay a higher fee for Hudson-Odoi right now, as they will have more competition in the summer transfer window. Moreover, a transfer in January will give the teenager time to settle in the new league and country. Hudson-Odoi will also have plenty of time to grow accustomed to Niko Kovac’s ideas about his role in the squad.
This third bid should do the trick for Bayern Munich, as they are close to satisfying Chelsea’s evaluation of the player. The English club will be on the weaker side of the negotiation table if they don’t sell the young winger this month. Bayern are close to acquiring another player they see as a long-term replacement to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
