Timo Werner drops Bayern Munich hint after loss with RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig and German national team striker Timo Werner hinted at a desire to join Bayern Munich after falling to the Bavarians 1-0 yesterday.
Bayern Munich grabbed a huge win over RB Leipzig yesterday, Franck Ribery saving his side from a dull draw with a fine effort late in the match. This, combined with Borussia Dortmund’s loss to Fortuna Dusseldorf, puts Bayern only six points off the top of the league.
Speaking with the press after the match (via Goal), Timo Werner gave a cryptic hint about his future. Rather than pledging his allegiance to RB Leipzig, the Germany international seemed to suggest a move to Bayern weighs heavy on his mind.
"“I’ve had a nice two and a half years at Leipzig, so they are in the picture [for next season].“There are other clubs in the picture. If you play in Germany and want to stay in Germany, there is only one club in question.”"

Despite his lack of goal-scoring contributions at this past summer’s World Cup, Werner is one of the best young strikers in all of Europe. Not only is he lightning quick, but he has fine-tuned his ability on the ball in recent seasons, making him a big threat in front of goal.
On top of this, Werner is comfortable drifting out wide from time to time. He’s not the best dribbler, but he is more than capable of beating a defender if they give him space.
RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick has advised Werner to plant his future firmly with the Red Bulls. The 22-year-old’s current contract expires in 2020, but his boss hopes he will renew it til 2023.
Moving for Werner makes sense for Bayern, and it would be a move that has been a long time coming. The thought of a future front three consisting of him, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry is simply mouthwatering. The trio would be able to overcome nearly any defense with their sheer pace and work on the ball.
That would, of course, mean a major shift in play-style from Niko Kovac, but it’s not hard to imagine that taking place.
Timo Werner is very much a player for Bayern fans to keep their eye on over the next few months. As the club seeks to rejuvenate its aging squad, the RB Leipzig forward is surely one name on the sheet of potential players for the future.
