Bayern Munich interested in Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic
Christian Pulisic has found himself on the outs at Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich have stepped up their interest in the young American.
Borussia Dortmund have been on fire this season. Their 3-2 win over Bayern Munich this past weekend was their eighth of the Bundesliga season. They haven’t yet lost a game in the German top flight and have a sensational goal differential of +21.
Their collective success under Lucien Favre this season hasn’t been without its victims, however. The emergence of Jadon Sancho and Jacob Bruun Larsen as first-choice wingers has left American wonderkid Christian Pulisic languishing on the bench for much of the season.
The 20-year-old has played only seven Bundesliga matches this season, starting only four. Of course, he did miss a few matches with injury toward the beginning of the season, but he has still found gametime difficult to come by since making his return. He was an unused sub last weekend in Dortmund’s biggest game of the season so far.

His development has taken a hit in Dortmund, and many expect him to move on from the club at the end of the season. Premier League giants Chelsea are the supposed front-runners for the American’s signature, but they’re not the only club involved.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, Bayern Munich have concrete interest in the player and are hoping to buy him from Dortmund in the summer. Wahl points out that Chelsea are facing the possibility of a transfer ban next summer, which would be a huge boost to the Bavarians.
With Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben on their way out come season’s end, Bayern will be in need of a quality winger or two. Pulisic would certainly be an interesting option for them. Despite his young age, the Dortmund winger has plenty of Bundesliga experience and can speak good German.
Die Roten are actively looking to grow their brand in the American market, and there’s no better player for them to do that with than Pulisic. Between him and Davies, Bayern would be set in North America for years to come.
Nevertheless, the 20-year-old would very much be a signing for the future. There are definitely more experienced and talented options on the market. A move for Pulisic would be good for Bayern, so long as he isn’t the only offensive player they move for next summer.
Of course, there’s still some doubt as to whether or not the player would even want to move to Munich. The lure of the Premier League is strong, even against the pull of the Bavarian giants. Furthermore, Pulisic has said in the past that he couldn’t imagine himself moving to Bayern.
