Bayern Munich and Juventus bosses hold informal talks for swap deal
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Juventus President Andrea Agnelli have reportedly held informal talks for a James-Dybala swap deal.
Bayern Munich have endured the worst start to a season in some time, dropping points in four consecutive home games for the first time since 2001. Juventus, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their 11 Serie A games so far this season.
The Bianconeri seem to be loving life with their new talisman Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line. The Portuguese superstar has made a huge addition to their attack, seamlessly integrating with the many stars already in the Juve ranks.
Among those stars is Argentine Paulo Dybala. La Joya has recently cropped up again in the media as a Bayern Munich transfer target. It was reported just the other day by Il Corriere di Torino that the Bavarians are first in line for the 24-year-old’s signature. The report claims Juventus need to sell him for both sporting and financial reasons, though it’s hard to believe either are true.

Now, however, a new report has emerged from Rai Sport (via Calciomercato) claiming that a swap deal could soon be in place. Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Juventus President Andrea Agnelli have allegedly held informal talks about a potential swap deal involving James Rodriguez and Paulo Dybala.
BILD recently reported James’ apparent discontent in Munich and even listed Juventus among potential suitors for the Colombian. Rummenigge, meanwhile, has never been shy about his admiration for Dybala.
Nevertheless, it’s still hard not to doubt the veracity of these reports. Other than the piece from BILD, there has been little talk from any major news sources on the topic. The combination of James’ alleged unrest, the uncertainty surrounding his future and Rummenigge’s long-time admiration for Dybala make it all too easy for this report to be strung together.
Furthermore, James has been one of Bayern’s absolute best player since he joined the club on loan from Real Madrid. And Paulo Dybala has been similarly exceptional for the Italian giants during this time. Both sets of fans love their respective player, and it would be shocking to see either leave their club anytime soon.
If, however, James is adamant about wanting to leave Munich, the Bavarians must be sure to use him to get an adequate fill-in, and Dybala is one of very few players who would fit that bill. Unless the Colombian is demanding an exit, though, it’s difficult to envision a situation where he leaves Bayern Munich.
