Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in bringing Adrien Rabiot to Germany in the next summer transfer window.

There are going to be some big changes at Bayern Munich next summer. The German champions are reportedly already planning to spend big in the transfer market to replace Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Bayern didn’t spend big this summer, but they sold some first team players to reduce the size of the squad and prepare for the future. The Bavarians are already being linked with several players for the next transfer window.

According to a report in L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), Bayern Munich are interested in signing  Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain. The Germans are one of several clubs across Europe monitoring Rabiot’s situation at PSG. The Frenchman has entered the final year of his contract with the Parisians. Barcelona were heavily linked with Rabiot in the summer, but he eventually decided to stay in France.

More from Bayern Strikes

This French outlet also mentions that Bayern’s interest is only preliminary. Juventus, Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested in signing the French midfielder, while Tottenham Hotspur have already held talks with the player’s entourage. The German champions will have to fend off a lot of competition if they’re serious about signing the 23-year-old.

Rabiot is considered one of the top midfield talents in Europe. The Frenchman can play in numerous positions in midfield, but he is at his best in a box-to-box role. After coming through PSG’s youth academy, Rabiot has become a vital cog in their midfield. They are reportedly doing everything possible to convince Rabiot to sign a new deal.

Bayern Munich love a free transfer and have pulled off some impressive moves without spending any money in the past few years. The Bavarians can agree terms with Rabiot in January, as he will be eligible to sign a pre-contract with a new club, exactly like the deal Bayern used to sign Leon Goretzka earlier this year. .

The Bavarians have made some big changes to the midfield department this summer. Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Rudy were sold to Barcelona and Schalke respectively, while new signing Leon Goretzka and loan returnee Renato Sanches have stepped in as replacements. Bayern have an excellent set of midfield options right now. Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara provide the experience while Goretzka, Corentino Tolisso and Sanches provide the youthful exuberance. James Rodriguez, meanwhile, is one of the best creative midfielders in the world.

Bayern are likely to keep midfielders at the bottom of their priority list in the next transfer window. Only if they offload someone from their midfield department will they look for a new signing. The Germans were reportedly ready to listen offers for Thiago this summer, but a transfer never materialized. Rabiot would be a solid addition for Bayern, but it is not at all a transfer that makes sense for the club.
