According to Kicker, French giants Paris Saint-Germain hope to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches along with Juan Bernat.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with several Bayern Munich players this summer, which isn’t a huge surprise considering the club’s recent appointment of Thomas Tuchel. The former Borussia Dortmund manager is all too familiar with the quality it takes to play for Bayern. Juan Bernat is reportedly very close to completing his move to the French capital. The Parisians also tried to sign Jerome Boateng earlier in the transfer window, but that move never materialized.

Renato Sanches is the latest Bayern player linked with a move to Paris. According to Kicker, Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to bring in the Portuguese youngster along with Bernat.

This report comes just after Paris United reported that Bayern had offered Sanches to PSG, who are hoping to strengthen their squad after offloading a few fringe players.

More from Bayern Strikes

Sanches has endured a torrid time since arriving at Bayern in 2016. The Portuguese midfielder was one of the most talked about prospects after impressing for Benfica in his debut season. He also played a crucial role in Portugal’s Euro win in 2016, which helped him win the European Golden Boy award.

Bayern faced a lot of competition from top European clubs for Sanches’ signature, but beat their competition to the punch. In his first season in Bavaria, though, Sanches struggled to get gametime due to some heavy competition in midfield. His development halted and many were disappointed with the few games he actually did play. There were even reports suggesting that Bayern were ready to sell the player after just one season.

When the Bavarians signed Sebastian Rudy and Corentin Tolisso last summer, further doubts were raised about Sanches’ future in Munich. He eventually left the club and joined Swansea City on a one-year loan deal.

Swansea struggled in the Premier League last season and were eventually relegated. Sanches failed to impress during this loan spell due to injuries and poor form, which ultimately cost him his place in Portugal” World Cup squad.

Despite his struggles, Sanches is still determined to make it work at Bayern Munich. Niko Kovac is also confident he can get the best out of the 21-year-old. Bayern have also insisted throughout the summer that Sanches is set to stay at the club.

He was not part of the squad which faced Hoffenheim last weekend, but he is likely to get more opportunities as the season progresses. The Germans have already sold Arturo Vidal and Rudy in this transfer window, so it will be surprising if they decide to sell Sanches now.

Kicker also report that Jerome Boateng will definitely stay at Bayern this season. The German international had reportedly agreed personal terms with PSG, but the two clubs never reached an agreement. Uli Hoeness affirmed his belief that Boateng will stay in Munich this season, so a move this late in the window is unlikely.
