According to a report in Sky Germany, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make a move for Bayern Munich defender Juan Bernat.
With the transfer window closing in just one week, Bayern Munich are still prepared to offload a few players from their large squad. The Bavarians are not interested in signing any players right now, as the club wants to raise funds to make new signings next summer.
Juan Bernat’s future at the club remains uncertain as he is surplus to the needs of Niko Kovac. The Spanish full-back was not included in the squad for Bayern’s first Bundesliga game of the season.
According to Sky Germany, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Bernat before deadline day. The Parisians are ready to pay up to €15 million for the player, but his wages might become a stumbling block in this deal. Bernat reportedly wants a salary of €5 million per year.

PSG are also looking at Felipe Luis from Atletico Madrid for the left-back position. Last week it was reported that the Spanish club will try to sign Bernat if Luis joins PSG.
Bernat has also been linked with a move to his former club, Valencia. He was also linked with a move to Juventus, but that move is impossible now as the Italian transfer window is closed.
Bernat joined Bayern Munich in 2014 and instantly became a key player under Pep Guardiola. He made 47 appearances in his debut season at Bayern. The Spanish manager used Bernat heavily at left-back, as David Alaba was moved into central defense. Bernat also occasionally played on the left wing under Guardiola.
After the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, Bernat struggled to get regular gametime. The Italian manager used Alaba in his usual position which reduced chances for the Spanish full-back.
He suffered a serious injury last season which kept him out for five months. Bernat struggled to get minutes on the pitch even after recovering from this injury and failed to make the Spanish national team for this past Summer’s World Cup.
Bayern Munich will be eager to offload Bernat within the next week as his contract expires in 2019. The Bavarians were linked with a move for Ricardo Rodriguez from AC Milan to replace Bernat, but it’s unlikely they’ll bring in any replacement. Bayern will instead use Rafinha in that position as the Brazilian can play on left side of defense despite being right-footed. Bernat also needs this move to kickstart his career, as he is unlikely to become an important player for Bayern any time soon.
