The Italian Champions have reportedly contacted Bayern Munich about the possibility of signing want-away left-back Juan Bernat.

Bayern Munich have already started pre-season training at Sabener Strasse. The players who didn’t feature in the World Cup this summer have reported to the Bavarian training facilities. Some of these players, though, are likely to leave the club this summer. Juan Bernat’s time at Bayern is nearing completion as the German Champions are ready to listen offers for him.

According to a report by Calciomercato, Juventus are showing interest in Bernat. The report further adds that the Italian Champions have already contacted Bayern Munich about a potential transfer.

Juventus want to sign Bernat as a replacement for Alex Sandro. The Brazilian is attracting interest from many big clubs in Europe. The Italian report believes that a deal in the region of €10-15 million can be agreed between the two clubs.

More from Bayern Strikes

Bernat has been linked with many clubs in recent times. The Spaniard’s contract at Bayern Munich expires in 2019, and Hasan Salihamidzic has admitted that the club will likely part ways with Bernat this summer. Brazzo also added that there is a lot of interest in the Spanish full-back.

Bayern signed Bernat from Valencia in 2014. He featured regularly under Pep Guardiola as the Spanish manager often deployed David Alaba in a central defensive role. In two seasons under Guardiola, Bernat made 74 appearances in all competitions.

However, after the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, Bernat struggled to feature regularly in the starting lineup. Ancelotti moved Alaba back into the left-back position, which limited Bernat’s opportunities. Moreover, Bernat’s form dipped at the same time, as he delivered disappointing performances in all the games he featured in.

At the start of the ’17-18 season, Bernat suffered a major injury, which kept him out for four months. The Spaniard took more time than expected to recover this season. He ended the season with only 12 appearances in all competitions. He struggled in these 12 games as well, and he probably needs a change of scenery to kickstart his career.

Marco Friedl has already ruled out an early return from his loan spell at Werder Bremen. Hence, Bayern will have to explore the transfer market to bring in a replacement for Bernat. The Bavarians have already been linked with AC Milan’s Ricardo Rodriguez. They were also briefly linked with Jonas Hector before the German defender signed a new deal Cologne. But if Bayern Munich sign Benjamin Pavard, then Rafinha is likely to become Alaba’s main cover at left-back.
