Lothar Matthaus advises Bayern Munich to sign Ante Rebic
Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus believes that Ante Rebic would be a perfect addition to Niko Kovac’s squad.
Bayern Munich have been linked with Ante Rebic since the end of the season. The Croatian forward has impressed at the World Cup, as he has helped his nation reach the semifinals of the competition. The Croatian is no doubt set to attract interest from many clubs after the World Cup comes to an end.
In his column for Sport Bild, Lothar Matthaus has advised his former club to make a move for the Croatian forward. Matthaus believes that Rebic has all the good qualities to do well at a big club and can be a lethal player for Bayern Munich. Rebic has admitted, though, that he will sort his future after the World Cup.
"“For a year and a half he has been showing consistently strong lines, standing for speed, dribbling power and passion. Rebic is one of the top players in the Bundesliga. If FC Bayern still needs [a forward], Rebic would be an obvious alternative for me. “"

Rebic’s contract with Frankfurt expires in 2021. Frankfurt are eager to hold on to their key attacking player, but they might change their mind if a big offer arrives for the player. If a big club comes calling, Rebic is also likely to agitate for a transfer.
In his first press conference as Bayern manager, Niko Kovac spoke brightly about Rebic. The Croatian manager has not ruled out any further incomings despite being happy with the squad.
Rebic delivered a brilliant performance against Bayern in the DFB Pokal final. The Croatian scored twice as Frankfurt clinched a famous 3-1 victory over the Bavarians.
Rebic can play anywhere across the front three. He has been playing on the right flank for Croatia, but can feature on the left or even up front. His movement and tenacity in the final third makes him a perfect player for any coach. However, he tends to lose his calm on the pitch which leads to a poor disciplinary record.
Bayern Munich have a couple of young forwards in their current squad. Kingsley Coman enjoyed a very good ’17-18 season until a serious injury halted his progress in February. Serge Gnabry has also returned to Bayern after a successful loan spell at Hoffenheim. But both of these two young forwards are at their best on the left flank.

The Bavarians need similar depth on the right hand side of the attack. Despite featuring there in the past, Thomas Muller and James Rodriguez are at their best when they play centrally, while Arjen Robben is in the twilight of his career. Rebic would provide that necessary depth on the right side. Moreover, after working with Kovac at Frankfurt, he is likely to settle quickly at Bayern.
