Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge sheds light on his club’s transfer plans for the summer.

Bayern Munich have been linked with a decent amount of players since the DFB Pokal final. There have also been several reports about some high profile departures from Bayern this summer. However, nothing has yet materialized, as the World Cup has arrived and things are likely to stay on pause until the tournament ends in July.

While talking to Sport Bild in an event in Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke about numerous things related to transfers. The most astonishing part of this interview was that Rummenigge confirmed the club are willing to sell Jerome Boateng if a suitable offer arrives. At the end of May, Boateng admitted he would be tempted by a move abroad in the future.

"“This was also revealed to me by Boateng’s advisor. We therefore know that the topic may come to us. If a club comes and announces that [Boateng] wants to go to this club, we will deal with it.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Rummenigge insisted that the offer needs to be considerably high for the club to even consider it. There have been no concrete rumors linking Boateng to other clubs yet, though. A strong World Cup for Boateng may invite a bidding war for the German International.

Kevin Vogt has been heavily linked with Bayern Munich as replacement for a potential Boateng departure. Rummenigge quickly dismissed this rumours about Vogt and called it merely a paper talk.

Thiago Alcantara is another player who has been tipped to leave Bayern in the summer. The Spanish midfielder is heavily linked with a return to Barcelona. However, Rummenigge claimed that no offers for the Spaniard have arrived and he remains in the club’s plans for next season. He insisted, however, that the team has many players in midfield and there is a possibility of departures in that position.

Rummenigge maintained a similar stance as Uli Hoeness when asked about Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has told the club about his desire to switch clubs in the summer. However, Bayern are still firm that they are not going to sell him at any cost. Rummenigge further added that Florentino Perez has not asked about Lewandowski yet. The German club will not sell him to Real Madrid even if they show interest after the World Cup.

There are likely to be many changes at Bayern Munich this summer. Rummenigge’s revealing interview surely suggested that the club will be looking to refresh their squad. However, they are eager to keep their talismanic striker. The major plans are likely to be executed when Kovac returns from his vacation in the first week of July.
