Timo Werner comments on Bayern Munich transfer speculation
RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner recently commented on the possibility of him joining German champions Bayern Munich in the near future.
Arguably the hottest topic at the moment when it comes to Bayern Munich is the future of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker is apparently unsettled in Bavaria and eager to leave the club. Bayern’s board, however, are not keen on selling their star striker. They expect him to see out his contract, which lasts until 2021.
If, as many expect, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness do decide to let Lewandowski leave, die Roten will be in need of someone to take his place. Perhaps the best player to do just that is RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
The 22-year-old is a much different player than Lewandowski, relying more on his pace and attacking instincts than his physicality or spectacular finishing. But he’s the best German striker around, and it’d be no surprise to see him at Bayern at some point or another.

It was recently reported, in fact, that Bayern’s higher-ups had met to discuss the possibility of a Timo Werner move should Robert Lewandowski leave the club.
The youngster is likely to lead the line for Germany this summer at the World Cup. Depending on his performance with die Nationalmannschaft, Werner’s stock could either skyrocket or take a serious dip over the next month or so.
He’s already dropped some hints about his future, suggesting he’ll have to leave RB Leipzig if wants to become world class. Speaking recently with Sport 1, though, Werner says he is not concerned about a potential transfer. When asked about the Bayern rumors, the player refused to give a definitive answer.
"“It doesn’t matter what I say, because the next day it is either written that I will join Bayern or that I never want to leave RB Leipzig.“My focus is on the World Cup. Everything that comes after, or in the years to come, is not an issue for me right now.“Maybe after the World Cup you can ask me again.”"
Although Werner didn’t exactly drop any groundbreaking hints, he didn’t deny interest in a move to Munich either. If Bayern Munich come calling, it will no doubt be difficult for him to resist.

Like every other big club in Europe, Bayern will surely keep a close eye on Werner in Russia. If he proves he has what it takes to lead a team on the biggest stage, then he’ll likely secure a move to a larger club. However, a series of lackluster performances might just have the opposite effect. The German striker is certainly one to watch over the coming weeks.
