Bayern Munich: Renato Sanches may return to Premier League next season
Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches could be in the Premier League once again next season, as newly-promoted side Wolves show interest in the player.
This season did not go at all as planned for young Renato Sanches. The young Bayern Munich prodigy was loaned to Swansea City at the beginning of the season, having no place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Sanches spent a few months under Ancelotti protege Paul Clement, before the student — very much like his master — was relieved of his duties with the club. Sanches’ time under Clement wasn’t much more impressive than his time in Bavaria the season before.
Clement was replaced by Portuguese manager Carlos Carvalhal. This move initially looked like it would bode well for Renato Sanches, but that proved not to be the case. He suffered an injury which kept him out of many of Swansea’s matches, but he was never really that impressive on the pitch when fit anyway.

With Swansea now relegated, Sanches has completed his loan spell and is set for a return to Munich. However, his time in Bavaria could be cut short. According to Portuguese outlet Diario de Noticias (via Sportbible), newly-promoted side Wolves are looking to bring the youngster back to the Premier League next season.
The report suggests that Wolverhampton are interested in a loan deal for the player and are willing to pay all his wages. However, Bayern Munich are only interested in a permanent deal for Sanches and want around €23 million.
The only way this deal should be completed is if Bayern Munich are adamant on selling the player. Loaning Renato Sanches to a lower-table Premier League side for a second season in a row would be terrible for his career and would provide no long-term benefit for Bayern either.
Even selling him may not be the best option, though. There is obviously some potential in the player; he has at least proven that much. Bayern selling him for much less than they purchased him would be a poor financial move from the club and also show a disappointing short-sightedness.
Shipping Renato out for good after a rough first season in Munich and a poor season on loan with a terrible club would not be very fair to the player and would send a discouraging message to any potential young players interested in joining Bayern.

Bayern should instead look to loan him to a better Bundesliga squad (such as Hoffenheim) or even back to Portugal. Perhaps a deal could be struck with his former club, Benfica, where Sanches was a star.
