Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich speaks about the importance of verstaility for young players.

The young German midfielder has been deployed in various positions for both national team and Bayern Munich. The former RB Leipzig midfielder plays as a midfielder for Bayern. On the other hand he occupies the rightback position for Germany.

Kimmich believes that the versatility helps a young player to read the game from different aspects. The young midfielder also played as centreback under Pep Guardiola last season. He has shown enough promise in every position and continues to develop well this year.

"“Every position is a bit different, but for a young player it’s important to be able to play different positions, to see the game in a different view, to learn of every position. Because you need different skills, and it’s perfect for a young player to develop.”"

Carlo Ancelotti signed Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund in summer. This transfer increased the depth in Bayern’s defence and allowed the Italian to move Kimmich in the midfield. Kimmich faces competition for a role in midfield with Thiago, Renato Sanches, Arturo Vidal and Xabi Alonso.

The German has enjoyed a good golascoring form at the start of the season. Kimmich has scored seven goals this season for club and country. He believes that his long term future lies in his favourite position.

"“My favorite position is in the center of the midfield, maybe the defensive midfield. I think I can play this position the best. I played there in my youth all the time, and I like to be in the center of the game because you’re never standing still.”“Every time you have trouble you can go with the ball or without the ball, you can go wherever you want. And you have a lot of touches with the ball. You can help your teammates to create chances and to stop the chances of the opponent.”"
