Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelloti believes that a tactical tweak in second half helped his team to clinch a 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven.

The win helped Bayern Munich to progress to the knockout round of Champions League. Ancelloti’s men were a goal down against the Dutch side at Philips Stadium on Tuesday. A brace from Robert Lewandowski was enough to comple the comeback for German Champions.

Ancelloti made some minor changes to the starting eleven that played on Saturday against Augsburg. He insisted that the two early changes in second half did the trick for his side. Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman came in at the 64th minute for the visitors. The Bayern manager justified this changes in his post match interview.

"“I tried to change the system to play with two wingers and open the space. We did that and Lewandowksi scored. It was difficult at the start, but slowly we worked our way back into the game and got there in the end.“We thought it was important to avoid counter-attacks. The team started to play quicker in the second half and create more opportunities. It was important that we didn’t lose our confidence.”"

Arjen Robben was awarded a round of applause as he went off in the second half. The winger played at his ex-home stadium for the first time since moving abroad from Netherlands. He expressed his frustration after the game because he was not able to lay 90 minutes.

"“Such a game is unique for me, of course you want to play 90 minutes, so I was disappointed and sad about the replacement.”"

Ancelloti’s men remain second in the group as Atletico Madrid have a three point lead over them. The German side have achieved the bare minimum, but finishing as the group winner will be their aim now. They host Atletico in the last gameweek which could be a decisive game for the final positions in the grooup.
