Bayern Munich reportedly tried to hijack RB Leipzig’s deal to sign Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb.

The January transfer window is set to shut down this week. There are likely to be some interesting transfers to be completed across Europe in the next four days. Bayern Munich has been fairly active in this window as they made signings for the present and future.

Die Roten started the window by confirming the arrival of Alexander Nubel. The German goalkeeper will join the club in summer after his contract at Schalke expires. Last week, Bayern added a quality right-back to the squad by signing Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid on a six-month loan deal.

Hansi Flick had publicly admitted that he would like to make additions in defense and attack. In Odriozola, he has got one addition. It remains to be seen whether Die Roten will give Flick another signing in the next four days.

The Bundesliga champions reportedly tried to sign a Spanish forward last week. According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Bayern made a last-ditch attempt to hijack Dani Olmo’s move to RB Leipzig. He insists that Die Roten offered a higher fee to Dinamo Zagreb, but Olmo preferred joining Leipzig.

More from Bayern Strikes

This is not the first time Bayern has been linked with Olmo. The Spaniard was reportedly in the list of attacking transfer targets for Die Roten last summer. Bayern was trying to sign Leroy Sane last summer but ended up signing Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic on one-year loan deals.

Olmo would have been a clever signing considering the potential of the winger. Moreover, the fee for him was reasonable in the current transfer window. I think Bayern may look for a similar winger in the next few days or else wait till summer to sign Sane. The German winger is reportedly keen to join Bayern as he has reportedly rejected a contract extension at Manchester City.

For the time being, Bayern Munich can see out the season with the attacking players they have in the squad. Ivan Perisic has shown promising signs in the two games this month, and Philippe Coutinho is also improving in the final third. Thomas Muller is in some form right now. The German is on course to have an amazing season in terms of his productivity in the final third.

Serge Gnabry, meanwhile has also returned from achilles injury. Kingsley Coman is also not far away from making his return from a knee injury. Die Roten will be hoping that these two young players remain fit for the rest of the campaign.
