Bayern Munich has reportedly emerged as one of the two major European clubs showing interest in Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

It will be a summer of upheaval at Bayern Munich as the club starts rebuilding their squad to compete in both the present and future. There will be some major signings in next few months as veteran players like Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are leaving Bavaria at the end of the season. Die Roten have been linked with numerous wide forwards due to the impending departure of these two stars.

Gareth Bale is the most recent player tipped as a possible candidate for this wing position. According to Spain’s AS, Bayern Munich is one of the major European clubs showing strong interest in the Welsh winger. Manchester United is the other club reportedly keeping a close eye on Bale’s situation. This report suggests Real Madrid have already told Bale and his agent that he has no future at the club under Zinedine Zidane.

AS further add that Bayern are ready to spend big money this summer in order to become a force to reckon with in Europe once again. The stumbling block for potential suitors is the player’s wage demands. The Wales international is unlikely to take a pay cut, and his agent has continually insisted that the player is in no rush to leave the club.

More from Bayern Strikes

Bale still remains Real Madrid’s record transfer, and he has made some crucial contributions during his five years at the club. This season he has been involved in 18 goals across all competitions, an underwhelming output for a player of his calibre. He continues to be plagued by injuries, so it will be a massive risk for any club to sign him for a big transfer fee.

Bayern Munich have kept on insisting in the last couple of years that they are going to target younger players instead of signing big stars from other clubs. Signing Bale would be the complete opposite of this policy. Moreover, Bale will turn 30 next season and is declining at a rapid rate. His injury problems and wage packet would cause all sorts of problems for Bayern.

dark. Next. Bayern Munich have eyes on Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan

James Rodriguez is the only player over whom Bayern and Real Madrid are expected to hold talks this summer. The German club will have to decide whether they will take up the option to make the Colombian’s transfer permanent or not. It would come as a massive surprise if Bayern even explores the possibility of signing Bale as the drawbacks of a potential move massively outweigh the possible positives.
