Disappointed: Manuel Neuer (Germany)

So far, Germany has kept 0 clean sheet throughout the first three games of the tournament.

Not all of them should be put on the shoulders of the man who has just surpassed the age of 40.

Germany's defence looked shaky with the absence of Nico Schlotterbeck and Nathaniel Brown. The midfield has struggled to contain the Ivory Coast and Ecuador.

That being said, Manuel Neuer was also generally unimpressive in the group stage. He was slow to make a judgment on Nilson Angulo's first goal for Ecuador when he dove too slowly.

His decisions to come out were sometimes rash; one time, it almost caused Germany a goal when he collided with Jonathan Tah while trying to retrieve the ball.

Many people can also argue that he could have done a more decisive job in Ecuador's winning goal following a corner.

Overall, Neuer did not improve Germany's stability in goal or add any visible impact towards the build-up and sweeping play, albeit he still might be better than the other two options with his foot.
