With Leroy Sane's imminent departure and Kingsley Coman seeking a move, Bayern Munich needs to quickly address the void on the left-hand side of the attack. Max Eberl is determined to bring in a world-class winger who can be the dynamic game-changer for Bayern in big matches. Out of the long list of prospective candidates, three names emerge as top targets: Nico Williams (Athletic Club), Rafael Leao (AC Milan), and Bradley Barcola (Paris Saint-Germain).

All three mentioned players are silky smooth wingers who excel at dribbling and possess game-breaking speed. They all rely heavily on their physical attributes to dominate their opponents. This raises the question of who will be the most suitable player for Bayern's system.

First, let's look at what Vincent Kompant sought after in his wingers. From an attacking perspective, Kompany's wingers need to hug the bylines effectively and create plays through dribbling. The wingers also rarely look to make runs in behind for through balls, but rather seek one-two opportunities with the central playmakers and the fullbacks. This is demonstrated by the performances of Anass Zaroury and Manuel Benson at Burnley, as well as those of Michael Olise and Leroy Sane in the past season. Out of possession, the wingers in Kompany's lineup play a crucial role in man-on-man pressing as they are responsible for closing down the wide areas with high intensity, which demands great defensive work rates. They are also expected to track back to support the defenders in the final third.
