The Vincent Kompany era has generally got off to a very good start, despite the week before the international break, where Bayern were held to two frustrating Bundesliga draws, either side of a Champions League defeat.

Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga, with 17 points from seven games. Let’s take a look at who have been the best performing players so far this season.

5) Harry Kane

This one feels a little harsh, and the England captain could be higher on the list. It is probably just a subconscious case of having extremely high standards for him, more than most other players. The one black mark on his record this season is that aforementioned frustrating week before the break, where he was unable to make much impact in all three games.

Still, the 31-year old has scored eight goals in seven Bundesliga games, yet it doesn’t feel like he has started the season as well as last season – where he also had eight goals in the first seven league games. Once again, this shows just how high he has set the bar in Munich.

As well as his eight goals, Kane has also provided four assists in the Bundesliga, with the pick of the bunch being his exquisite through ball for Serge Gnabry’s winner against Wolfsburg. The hat-trick against Stuttgart ended his goal drought. He is well and truly back.
