The first game of the Champions League semi-final was a blockbuster as the two best attacking sides in Europe met at Parc des Princes on Tuesday. Bayern Munich lost the game against Paris Saint-Germain by a scoreline of 5-4, but the result can be considered positive as Vincent Kompany’s men found themselves 5-2 down at one stage in the second half.

It was an end-to-end game where attacking players for both sides shone. For Bayern, Michael Olise and Harry Kane stood out, while Lusi Diaz came up with an incredible finish to score Die Roten’s fourth goal.

At the halfway stage in the tie, Bayern are effectively 1-0 down. Considering how well they have done with coming back from deficits in the last three weeks, Bayern fans should be confident about a strong performance at Allianz Arena.

Along with the intensity from players, Vincent Kompany also wants Allianz Arena to spur the team against PSG. While talking to Prime Video after Tuesday’s game, Kompany urged fans to turn up at Allianz Arena and become a mass to help the team get over the line.

"We don't want just noise, we want a mass in the stadium. We need it"

Kompany’s presence on the touchline is crucial for Bayern

The Belgian head coach had to watch the game against PSG from the stands as he was serving a suspension. As per the suspension rules, Kompany was not allowed to communicate with the team during the game and at halftime.

Aaron Danks, Kompany’s number two, was on the touchline against PSG. The Englishman did a fine job, but Bayern will certainly receive a boost in the second leg as Kompany returns to the touch line.

The Belgian coach praised the efforts of his players on Tuesday, but he was certainly missed on the touchline. His half-time team talk certainly made an impact in the 4-3 comeback win against Mainz last weekend. Kompany can certainly look to make a similar impact and help Bayern book a place in the final by beating PSG at Allianz Arena.

Bayern will turn their attention to the Bundesliga clash against Heidenheim on Saturday. With the Bundesliga title already sealed, Kompany will probably rest several key players for this game. Die Roten have been in a dominant position after the first leg of every knockout tie in the Champions League this season. They are in an unfamiliar territory in the semi-final tie, trailing going into the second. Bayern players have given moments of joy to fans consistently this season. They now need the strong push from the stands to get over the penultimate hurdle in the Champions League.
