Bayern Munich have been the form team in Europe as they made it 15 wins in a row since the start of the season by clinching a 3-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. The Bavarian club has been playing scintillating football, dominating teams with incredible consistency.
The defending Bundesliga champions will face their biggest test this campaign when they travel to Paris on Tuesday. Bayern have won all three Champions League group games until now, but beating Luis Enrique’s men on Tuesday will be altogether a different ball game. Vincent Kompany’s men can send a resounding message to European rivals by delivering a strong performance in Paris and extending their winning run to 16 games.
PSG have started their UCL title defense in the best possible way. They are currently leading the points table with three wins, edging Bayern for the top spot by scoring an extra goal in the three games. There is very little separating the two sides, making it a mouthwatering contest.
Team News
Vincent Kompany will have a strong available for the game against PSG. There are no fresh injury concerns for the Bavarian club as Kompany smartly rotated the team against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
Jamal Musiala, Hiroki Ito, and Alphonso Davies are back on the grass at Sabner Strasse, but there is still a long way to go for them to make their return from injuries. Wisdom Mike was not part of the travelling squad as he is with the German squad for the U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Predicted Starting XI
Manuel Neuer was back in the starting XI against Bayer Leverkusen on the weekend after sitting out the last two games as Bayern looked to give some game time to Jonas Urbig. The veteran goalkeeper had to make just one save against Leverkusen. He has been in fine form for Die Roten, which bodes well for Tuesday as PSG will certainly test his shot-stopping skills.
Despite concern over contract talks, Dayot Upamecano remains a key player for Kompany. The French center-back will play alongside Jonathan Tah in the heart of defense. Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic are expected to start in the right-back and left-back positions, respectively.
Aleksandar Pavlovic and Joshua Kimmich are expected to start in the center of the park against PSG. Considering the astonishing quality of midfielders PSG have, Kimmich and Pavlovic have their job cut out in midfield on Tuesday.
The selection in the attack is straightforward for Bayern against PSG. After resting them against Leverkusen, Luis Diaz, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane will return to the starting XI. Serge Gnabry will be in the number ten role against the French club after finding the back of the net against Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich: Neuer; Stanisic, Tah, Upamecano, Laimer; Pavlovic, Kimmich; Diaz, Gnabry, Olise; Kane
Score Prediction
Paris Saint-Germain 2-2 Bayern Munich
Despite Bayern’s incredible run of form, PSG are slight favourites for the game on Tuesday. Die Roten will certainly be a threat in the attack, but I expect this game to end the winning run for Kompany’s men. A draw will still be a solid result for the Bavarian club.
