Bayern Munich got back in form on Saturday with an emphatic 6-1 win against RB Leipzig. After regaining confidence against Leipzig, Bayern gear up for their biggest game of the season until now as they host Arsenal on Wednesday in the Champions League.

Die Roten are unbeaten in the Champions League this season after two game weeks, but they dropped two points against Viking in Norway from a winning position. The draw was partly down to the fact that Bayern were reduced to ten men due to a red card for Michael Olise.

Arsenal have been exceptional in the Champions League over the last two seasons. They reached the semi-final in 2025 and finished as runners-up in 2026. The North London side had beaten Bayern 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium last season. Considering the way they have managed to grind out results this season, Wednesday’s game will be a fascinating tactical battle between two of the best sides in Europe.

Team News

Manuel Neuer returned to training on grass this week after missing the last two weeks due to a minor injury. It remains to be seen if he will start against Arsenal on Wednesday. Jamal Musiala is set to miss Wednesday’s game as he continues to recover from a muscle injury.

Michael Olise will sit out the game against Arsenal due to suspension. The French forward was given marching orders against Viking last week. Joshua Kimmich is also a doubt for Wednesday’s game due to personal reasons.

Predicted Starting XI

There is a good chance to see Jonas Urbig continue in goal for Bayern on Wednesday. Since Manuel Neuer has trained only twice this week, it makes sense to not take a risk with him and give him a start against Freiburg on Sunday. Moreover, Wednesday’s game is a good opportunity for Urbig to test himself against one of the best teams in Europe.

Alphonso Davies is expected to start in the left-back position, while Konrad Laimer will start on the right side of the back four. Vincent Kompany will likely go ahead with the center-back partnership of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae against Arsenal.

With Kimmich's participation in doubt, Kompany will rely on Tom Bischof in the center of the park. The German U-21 midfielder has delivered strong performances for Die Roten whenever he has been called into action this season. Bischof will play alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic in the center of the park.

Die Roten will severely miss Olise against Arsenal since he is currently the best wide player in Europe. Bayern will hope Lennart Karl will do a good job on the right flank against Arsenal. Serge Gnabry is expected to start in the number ten position against his former club. Harry Kane will lead the attack, while Luis Diaz will slot in the left-wing position.

Bayern Munich XI: Urbig; Davies, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Bischof, Pavlovic; Diaz, Gnabry, Karl; Kane

Score Prediction

Bayern Munich 3-2 Arsenal

Bayern enjoy a formidable record in the Champions League when they are playing at the Allianz Arena. Die Roten have not lost in their last 39 group games at the Allianz Arena. However, Arsenal have been a fantastic team in Europe over the last 18 months. It will be a fascinating game at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, with the hosts clinching a narrow victory.
