Bayern Munich had a disappointing start to October as they dropped points against Augsburg on Saturday. The defending Bundesliga champions will look to bounce back from this disappointing result when they face Viking in the Champions League.

It is going to be a challenging contest for Bayern as the team will be playing on the artificial turf. Bayern started the new Champions League campaign with an emphatic win against Bodo/Glimt before the international break. Kompany’s men will look to build on that performance when they play in Norway on Tuesday.

Viking have been in superb form when it comes to playing the league games this season. However, they endured a difficult start to life in the Champions League with a 3-1 defeat away at VfB Stuttgart on matchday one. With the home support behind them, Viking will certainly make things difficult for Bayern on Tuesday.

Team News

Bayern didn’t get any fresh injury concerns from the 2-2 draw against Augsburg on Saturday. Manuel Neuer did have a foot issue on Monday during training. The veteran German goalkeeper has travelled with the squad, but he is not expected to start the game on Tuesday.

Jamal Musiala continues to train separately as he recovers from a minor injury. The German attacking midfielder is expected to be back in the squad later this month. The game against Viking comes too early for him. He has not travelled with the squad for Tuesday’s clash.

Predicted Starting XI

With Manuel Neuer ruled out for tomorrow, Jonas Urbig will start in goal against Viking. It is a great time for Urbig to stake a claim for a place in the starting XI since Neuer struggled against Augsburg on Saturday.

Kim Min-jae will be back in the starting XI since Kompany may look to rotate his team. The South Korean defender will most likely play alongside Dayot Upamecano in the heart of the defense. Josip Stanisic will slot in the right-back position, while Nathaniel Brown will play on the left side of the back four.

Tom Bischof should get an opportunity on Tuesday as he has continued to deliver good performances when called upon from the bench. The young midfielder will play alongside Kimmich in the center of the park.

Ismael Saibari looked in good form against Augsburg on Saturday. The Moroccan will keep his place in the attack behind Harry Kane. Luis Diaz will start on the left flank, while Lennart Karl should get a start on the right side of the front four, allowing Michael Olise to get much-deserved rest.

Bayern Munich Starting XI: Urbig; Brown, Kim Min-jae, Upamecano, Stanisic; Kimmich, Bischof; Diaz, Saibari, Karl; Kane

Score Prediction

Viking 1-2 Bayern Munich

With the home support behind them, Viking will be a tough team to crack. Moreover, the artificial pitch may trouble the visitors a bit on Tuesday. However, Bayern remain favourites for this game due to the quality in the squad. It will be a close encounter, but the Bavarian club will do enough to get all three points.
