The games continue to come thick and fast for Bayern Munich. Considering the new Champions League format, Bayern have to play every other week in Europe. The second matchday of the Champions League will see them travel to Cyprus for a game against Pafos.
Bayern have enjoyed a sweet start to the Champions League campaign with a 3-1 win against Chelsea at Allianz Arena two weeks ago. Die Roten have been in tremendous form, winning all of their eight games across all competitions. The away game in Cyprus will be daunting, but Bayern are heavy favourites to get another win under their belt.
Pafos have enjoyed a good start to their league campaign, winning four of their five games. They started the Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw away at Olympiakos. It will take a special performance for them to get a similar result on Tuesday.
Team News
Bayern received positive injury news on Monday as Josip Stanisic started running on the pitch at Sabner Strasse. However, the Croatian defender will not be fit for the clash against Pafos. Jonas Urbig also remains on the sidelines as he recovers from a minor injury.
Raphael Guerreiro returns to the matchday squad. The likes of Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, and Jamal Musiala remain the long-term absentees, but they could play for Die Roten before the end of the year.
Predicted Starting XI
Manuel Neuer had hardly anything to do against Werder Bremen on Friday. The German goalkeeper will hope for a similar evening in Cyprus as he looks to continue his good start to the season.
There is likely to be one change in the back four. Kim Min-jae may come in for Dayot Upamecano and partner Jonathan Tah in the heart of defense. Konrad Laimer will continue to play in the left-back role, while Sacha Boey gets his third consecutive start in the right-back position.
Joshua Kimmich will return to the team after starting on the bench against Werder Bremen due to illness. Kimmich will likely start alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic in the center of the park.
Vincent Kompany is not expected to tinker much with his attack. It is the ideal time to give Nicolas Jackson his first start in Europe for Bayern. The Senegalese striker will play alongside Harry Kane in the attack, while Michael Olise and Luis Diaz will occupy the flanks.
Predicted Starting XI: Neuer; Laimer, Kim Min-jae, Tah, Boey; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Diaz, Jackson, Olise; Kane
Score Prediction
Pafos 0-2 Bayern Munich
It is a big game for Pafos, so they will trouble Bayern a bit in front of their fans. However, the Bavarian club will do enough to get the job done away from home and double their points tally in the table.
