Transfer Plans in Place: Bayern Munich looking at long-term heir of Harry Kane
Harry Kane has been a successful signing for Bayern Munich. The English striker was unfortunate to miss out on silverware despite scoring 40+ goals across all competitions. Bayern struggled in other areas of the pitch, leading to their first trophyless campaign in more than a decade.
The 31-year-old striker has continued from where he left last season. Kane has already scored 17 goals across all competitions. The English forward also has five assists to his name in 13 appearances this season. Bayern and Vincent Kompany are pleased with Kane's performances this season.
Even though Kane is not showing any signs of decline, Bayern are monitoring several players in European football that can replace him in the long run. According to SportBild, Bayern already have a contingency plan to find the long-term successor of Kane.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush features on the club’s list of transfer targets for the 2025 summer transfer window. The Egyptian can play as a striker in the place of Kane. Apart from Marmoush, Bayern are also keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig duo Benjamin Sesko and Loïs Openda. Sporting Lisbon’s prolific striker Viktor Gyökeres is also on Die Roten’s list of strikers to watch.
Die Roten will face competition from several European clubs for the signature of one of the above-mentioned strikers. Mathys Tel was expected to replace Kane at Bayern, but the young winger may need a loan spell before competing for game time in Munich.
Kane could return to England in the near future
After spending more than a decade at Tottenham Hotspur, Kane decided to join Bayern in 2023. The English striker could have stayed in the Premier League and become the all-time top scorer in the league, but winning silverware in Munich was a too good opportunity to turn down.
However, Kane will likely return to England in the future to have a shot at becoming Premier League’s top scorer. He is second in the list behind Alan Shearer. Kane needs 48 goals to beat Shearer’s record tally of 260 goals.
Kane’s current deal at Bayern expires in 2027. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he leaves Bayern at the end of his contract. After considering all factors, it is a wise decision from Die Roten to prepare in advance for his departure instead of reacting at the time of his exit. Bayern should ideally look to get a striker in 2026, when Kane will have one year left on his contract.
