After disappointing results against Union Berlin and VfL Bochum, Bayern Munich got back to winning ways against St. Pauli in the Bundesliga. It was a dominating performance from the Bavarian club, but they couldn’t put the game to bed, which allowed St. Pauli to mount a late fightback.
Die Roten ensured that they didn’t drop any points and clinched a narrow 3-2 win. The victory at Allianz on Saturday ensured Bayern maintained a lead of six points at the top of the points table with seven matches left in the league this season.
Leroy Sane
With three months left on his contract, Leroy Sane is playing for his future at Bayern Munich. The German winger wants to stay at the club despite interest from the Premier League. The club chiefs are reportedly hesitant about offering him a new deal, but a final decision is yet to be made.
Sane can strengthen his case by delivering good performances during the business end of the season. He has started on the best possible note by scoring a brace against St. Pauli. Sane showed great efficiency with his shots on Saturday, converting two into goals from five attempts. The German winger also created two chances and made seven recoveries to help his team defensively. By scoring the brace, Sane has now scored nine goals in the Bundesliga, which is a record for him since returning to the league in 2020.
