Vincent Kompany finally gets a statement win against big team
Bayern chiefs and the Bavarian faithful have been pleased with the way Vincent Kompany has hit the ground running at the club. The Belgian coach has quickly implemented an expansive style of play, which has allowed Die Roten to dominate most games.
Along with showing quality on the ball, Bayern have also improved out of possession. They are pressing well and suffocating teams in their half. The only thing missing for Kompany was a resounding win against a big team. Bayern suffered defeats against Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal, while Aston Villa and Barcelona got the better of Kompany’s men in the Champions League. Die Roten needed a late equaliser against Borussia Dortmund to secure a point in the Bundesliga at the start of December.
Bayern did demolish VfB Stuttgart at Allianz Arena earlier this season, but Sebastian Hoeness’ team has endured a dip in form after a successful last campaign. The win against RB Leipzig finally gave Kompany the statement performance and result he needed as Bayern manager. The Belgian coach will be pleased that the win against Leipzig was a consequence of a strong performance.
Kompany has done a terrific job for Bayern, but there is still a long way to go in terms of winning the silverware. However, the win against Leipzig will give the Belgian coach a lot of confidence ahead of the second half of the season.
