João Palhinha delivers his best performance for Bayern

Bayern Munich started the game on a sad note as Aleksandar Pavlović suffered a serious injury. The 20-year-old midfielder is expected to be out for three months after undergoing surgery on a broken collarbone. The injury to Pavlović allowed João Palhinha to come on the pitch and make a strong impression.

Palhinha made the most of this opportunity and delivered his best performance in Bayern shirt. The Portuguese midfielder kept things ticking in the center of the park when Die Roten was dominating possession. He completed 96% of his passes and created one chance. The 29-year-old midfielder also unleashed a couple of powerful shots from outside the box. It was his shot from distance that led to Kane’s third goal.

From a defensive point of view, Palhinha won 100% of the tackles he attempted. The former Fulham midfielder also won 60% of duels he contested in the game. Palhinha shielded the back four to great effect and allowed Joshua Kimmich to play slightly higher up the pitch.

Since Pavlović will be out for a significant time, Palhinha will start regularly for Bayern. The Portuguese midfielder should use these opportunities to cement his place in the starting XI after enduring a slow start to the campaign.
