Should Bayern Munich break the bank for Florian Wirtz or focus on other priorities?

Bayern Munich look dead set on bringing in Florian Wirtz for big money next summer, but this signing could indirectly lead to squad-building issues that the club should be aware of.

PROS:

The Musiala-Wirtz connection

FC Bayern have always maintained an unofficial policy of wanting to acquire all the best German national team players, and with Wirtz and Musiala they will have the two best players of Die Mannschaft. It has been already demonstrated during Euros and other Nations League games how well they complement each other in the attack despite occupying similar positions. It is a no-brainer that they will thrive together in the Bayern jersey as well.

The perfect Thomas Müller replacement

Chance creation is not Musiala’s strongest suit, an area where Wirtz excels at a much higher level. Bayern best passer is arguably Harry Kane, who often drops behind to contribute as a playmaker. The introduction of Wirtz could relieve Kane of this responsibility, allowing him to focus on his primary role of number nine. With the possible retirement of Thomas Müller, Florian Wirtz can fill his shoes and become Bayern’s prolific assist provider for the next decade.

Florian Wirtz to Bayern is a move that one simply has no choice but to be excited about. The pros certainly outweigh the cons, as at the end of the day, Bayern will be getting one of the most talented and sought-after players on the planet. However, they mustn't overlook other positions in need of reinforcements. The Bavarian club will have to focus on significant sales that would generate funds for these signings. Squad building can be tricky; hoarding the best players may not necessarily ensure success and Bayern should be aware of that heading into the transfer window next summer.
