With his stellar form for Bayern Munich last season and a fire start at the World Cup, Michael Olise is attracting unprecedented attention from the press and football fans around the world. As is the case every time a superstar is in the limelight, many fans and sources begin to speculate on hypothetical transfers.

In Olise’s case, Real Madrid has been a much-talked-about destination, especially with Florentino Perez's promise during his presidential campaign to bring in a "Galactico-level" target and the fact that Olise is Kylian Mbappe's teammate at the national level.

Bayern chiefs have been consistently insisted that Olise is not for sale irrespective of what fee Real Madrid or other interested clubs want to pay.

Historically, Bayern has never been a selling club, even for the ridiculous price tag of over €220 million that people put on the Frenchman. Despite President Hainer's public denial of the rumours, the storm did not seem to die down.

Many Los Blancos fans are still drooling to see Olise at the Santiago Bernabeu next season and have flooded social media with kit swaps and highlight compilations.

That prospect seems even more realistic with Kylian Mbappe sending the 24-year-old heaps of praise, saying how he is "the player of the present and the future". However, the transfer saga may have finally come to an end with Real Madrid's latest action.

In the latest official statement, Real Madrid has denied any connection with Michael Olise and his camp.

The media release said that in response to reports in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest from our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage.

It is extremely rare to see a club publishing an official statement just to deny a false transfer rumour, especially from a club with the status of Real Madrid.

In the club statement, the Spanish side also pointed out the tight-knit relationship with Bayern Munich, which many presumed had been the reason they had to address the public.

Bayern Munich fans should be relieved by Real Madrid’s statement

The French winger's contract with Bayern runs until 2029, and he is expected to adhere to it. Olise's focus is squarely on the World Cup campaign with France.

Bayern is also preparing a major extension deal for Olise to ensure one of football's best players will stay put at the Allianz Arena.
