On Wednesday night, Bayern Munich were condemned to their first defeat of the season. A number of players played themselves out of the starting XI - let's analyze who they are.

We'll start with a player who was only really in the team because Jamal Musiala was given some rest. Kingsley Coman did nothing to suggest he should start against Eintrracht Frankfurt this weekend. The Frenchman was entirely predictable and easy to defend against, despite opposite number Ezri Konsa not being a natural right-back.

Aside from Holsten Kiel, Bayern's best performances so far this season have come without Coman in the team. They play with more unpredictability without him, and Vincent Kompany must see this for himself. The fact it was him hooked at half-time perhaps suggests that this is indeed the case.

Could we see big changes in Bayern Munich starting XI after first defeat of Vincent Kompany era?

The next pick is a player who is also not a guaranteed starter, but whose starting berth against Villa was less enforced than Coman's. Whilst Konrad Laimer did not do much wrong defensively, his on-ball limitations were a part of why Bayern struggled to break their hosts down.

Whether it is Raphael Guerreiro at right-back, or Joshua Kimmich to allow João Palhinha in midfield, or perhaps even Kimmich at right-back and Guerreiro in midfield - Laimer must come out of the team for the trip to Frankfurt if Bayern are to optimize their chances of all three points on Sunday.

Finally, the biggest mainstay of the side this season that should come out, is Serge Gnabry. This may feel the harshest of all of them, but needs must. It has been a frustrating two games for him, and Bayern need some fresh impetus to shake things up.

Leroy Sané has been back from his injury for around a month now, and it time to give him a go in the starting XI instead.

With Alphonso Davies seemingly playing a more inverted role this season, Bayern do lack width down the left side. Sané is the exact type of player to come in there, getting on the end of passes from the likes of Musiala, Olise, and Kane.

Verdict: Palhinha for Laimer, Musiala for Coman, and Sane for Gnabry. Otherwise - unchanged.
