Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich pulled the strings in midfield for Bayern all evening against their overmatched opponents. Playing as a number eight Kimmich was active all over the pitch. The newly appointed captain of the German national team completed 94% of his passes (119/127); won both his ground duels and created two big chances.

The 29-year-old midfielder’s positional play was superb throughout most of the evening. Die Roten enjoyed a whopping 71% ball possession, largely due to contributions from Kimmich in the center of the park. Kimmich continues to show that he excels in midfield despite having the ability to do a more than decent job in the right-back position.

Bayern will hope Kimmich continues to build on early season form after a difficult 2023/24 campaign. The German international is eager to stay in Munich, with contract talks likely to take place in the coming months. Kimmich’s strong performances will give him leverage to get the best possible deal.
