On matchday four of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich visited the north-western region of Germany to take on Werder Bremen. Off the back of a 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, the Bavarian side arrived at Weserstadion in high spirits.

The mood of the team was soon on full display as Bayern went on to trounce the hosts 5-0. With the victory at Weserstadion, the Bavarians maintained their 100% start to the season and retained the top spot in the points table. From a game that Bayern dominated in all areas, the following three players led the way.

Michael Olise

Michael Olise delivered a man-of-the-match performance against Bremen; not any easy task with Harry Kane in the side. However, the 22-year-old French international was a deserved winner of the award. Olise followed up his brace against Dinamo Zagreb with two more goals against Bremen. For his and Bayern’s first goal on the evening, he showed great presence of mind to occupy the center-forward position anticipating the pass from Harry Kane who had drifted into the inside left channel. For his second goal, he caressed the ball into the net with a composed one-time finish.

In addition to scoring two goals, Olise also provided two assists on Saturday. For the first, he knifed through the Bremen defence from the right side of the box before laying it on a platter, with his weaker right foot, for Jamal Musiala to make it 2-0. His second assist resulted in Harry Kane getting his name on the scoresheet.

Olise’s performances are on an upward trajectory. From an attacking standpoint, his performance couldn’t have been much better than it was against Bremen. If he continues in this sort of form, no one will be able to displace him from the starting XI for the big games as long as he is fully fit. After 70 minutes of action, with the points already in the bag, Kompany replaced Olise with Leroy Sane. Expect the young French forward to be in the starting XI next Saturday when Die Roten hosts Bayer Leverkusen.
