Top performers for Bayern Munich in hard-fought 3-2 win against Wolfsburg
Serge Gnabry
For the clash against Wolfsburg, coach Vincent Kompany sprung a few surprises when he announced the starting lineup. One of the surprise team selections was Serge Gnabry in the attack. The German winger went on to justify his selection.
Inside the opening 10 minutes, Gnabry unleashed a left-footed volley from an acute angle which drew a fine save from Wolfsburg goalkeeper Kamil Grabara. The 29-year-old winger fired off five shots in total during the game, four were on target, including the match-winner in the 82nd minute. Gnabry duly repaid the coach’s faith in him.
When one considers that Gnabry was a candidate to be sold ahead of this season, it was an excellent performance from him to prove his worth and silence critics. With Leroy Sané still on the mend following surgery, Gnabry has the chance to cement a starting spot. The German international can also stake a claim in the German squad if he achieves consistency in performances for Bayern.
