Bayern Munich started the 2024/25 Bundesliga season on a winning note with a highly- entertaining 3-2 away victory over a dogged Wolfsburg side at the Volkswagen Arena.

Whilst Bayern’s attack looked menacing throughout the game, some costly errors in defense made the game more difficult than it should have been. In that regard, the Bavarian faithful can be particularly grateful for the contributions of the following three players towards the winning start to the Bundesliga campaign.

Jamal Musiala

As expected, Jamal Musiala played as the number ten just behind lone striker Harry Kane. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder picked up from where he left off at Euro 2024 and scored the game’s first goal in the 19th minute to give Bayern the lead and send the away fans into rapture. Early in the second half, after Wolfsburg had taken a rather surprising 2-1 lead, Musiala came close to scoring the equalizer, but Wolfsburg's goalkeeper parried his shot onto the crossbar.

Musiala linked up well with his teammates throughout the 90 minutes and did a good job of mixing up his game. In addition to showing an eye for goal, he also got the better of the opponent by completing most of his dribble attempts (4/6) and showed an accuracy of 75% in finding his teammates with long balls. Musiala also contributed significantly off the ball as reflected by the number of ground duels that he won (11/16). Going forward, fans of Bayern and Germany will be counting on Musiala to sustain the kind of form he displayed on matchday one of the Bundesliga.
