The German international prefers playing in the midfield, but he remains an excellent right-back option for Die Roten. Kimmich may have to play in the right-back position for few games in the next couple of months until Boey and Josip Stanišić return from their respective injuries. However, his best qualities are better highlighted in the center of the park. The performance on Tuesday may force Kompany to play him consistently in midfield and use other players in the right-back position.
